The battle of wearable technology is heating up!

The question of who will become the king of wearable tech just got a lot more interesting. Samsung and Apple have decided to step into the ring, looking to dethrone Oura, who hit the market back in 2016.

Oura has been the undisputed leader boasting over 2.5 million units sold, ranging from $300 on the low end, up to $950 for the Gucci x Oura collab ring. They’ve also generated MRR with a $5.99 monthly subscription for access to premium features like personalized insights.

With those numbers, it’s no surprise they’ve caught the eye of some serious competition. Samsung recently announced its latest tech lineup at an annual event, featuring their sleek new Galaxy Ring. This gadget is said to come packed with AI-powered insights, personalized wellness tips, and an Energy Score that tracks your sleep, in which they made it clear, that no additional monthly subscription is required.

Then, there’s the latest Apple patents. Although rumors about an Apple Ring have been circulating for years, the most recent patent filings suggest they might finally be getting closer to going to market with a product.

While there’s no guarantee that we’ll see this product just yet, as someone who uses the Apple Vision Pro multiple times a week, I could see the cross-compatibility between the two devices giving Apple an edge with advanced hand tracking, as the AVP currently has no physical controllers to assist with its functionality.

Who knows, in a few years we may be able to crown the King of the Ring, who will you be putting your money on?
